If you have read my previous article concerning the electric forest, then you are in for some pretty big news. I have another incredible festival to talk to you guys about and share my experiences at. For those of you who love adventure, prepare for an incredible journey. An out of the country journey that is. That's right folks, pack your bags and renew those passports because we are headed to the British Columbia. You may think to yourself, geez what the heck is in the British Columbia that im going to be interested in? Well ill tell you what, i thought the exact same thing a year ago when one of my good buddys told me about the fest. Ladies and gentlemen prepare for Pemberton. Pemberton is a music festival that takes place in July on the dates 14-17th, and you guessed it, its hosted in the city of Pemberton. The festival, often referred to as "pemby" is an incredible four day experience that consists of music and art. Not only does the festival encompass all of the electric dance music world but it also brings in another genre of music. You guessed it, Rap. Now i dont know about all of you but sometimes during the daytime when im enjoying a festival i would prefer to hear some music that actually has words to it and that i can sing along with, instead of the constant grimy dubstep that we are all used to hearing during the day. Pemberton takes an interesting, and in my opinion a well needed break from the dubstep. Thats not all, pemby also offers a completely different side to the scene. Not interested in either rap or dubstep, or just need a break from all the music for a little while? No worries pemberton has you covered. Pemberton is notorious for their outstanding lineup of comedy artists in the comedy tent. You read correctly, the festival has an entire tent dedicated to just comedy. This is one of the coolest aspects of the entire fest, because as you know not everyone is an EDM or rap fan. Personally i took my girlfriend with me to pemberton last year and she is not the biggest dubtsep fan, so when there wasnt somebody that either her nor i particularly wanted to see, we made our way over to the comedy tent! It was really cool because we were actually able to find a good enough spot as to where we could tie up in our hammocks by some trees and see and hear the acts as they were going on. We got to lay and hang comfortably with a great view, all while getting some good chuckles in at the same time! Just as a little sneak preview, i will say on here that the main act for the comedy tent this year will be cheech and chong. That is correct the famous cheech and chong from "cheech and chong's up in smoke" will be performing live comedy from the movie as well as their own written stand up for your entertainment. Now if you have yet to see the movie, i do feel sorry for you because it is a classic. But if you havnt seen the movie, dont worry because the act will be even more funny for you since it will be your first time seeing it. Okay... enough is enough though back to the music. Honestly, regardless of your preferred festival atmosphere, and all things else aside you should attend pemberton because of the incredible lineup. Not to say that the lineup has been bad in past years (because it certainly has not) but this year guys, they decided to sell out. They dropped an amount of cash that i dont even want to think about to get all of the artists you want to see to the fest this year. Just to begin with the announced the killers and pearl jam as two of the three headlining acts! I mean come on guys those two oldies but goodies are enough to pay for the festival ticket right there. But in case your not a big classic rock guy and prefer some rap tunes, they also signed snoop dog and j cole to be the headliners for the other two nights. Yeah no big deal, but yes very big deal. J cole is at the top of the most wanted to see perform on everyone's list, and lets get real here for a second guys; even if you dont like snoop dog, when is the next time you will ever be able to see this man perform. This is a story you will be able to tell the grand kids even if you didnt enjoy the show and you will be sure to have them jealous. If those two rappers werent enough for you how about they just go ahead and add wiz khalifa and ice cube into the mix for you. Now if you are a fan of rap, you can not seriously tell me that you are not into at least one of those artists. I dont know how i have gotten this far into the article without already addressing this (that is just how good this lineup is) but of course the king himself Bassnectar will be there. Honestly what is a music festival without him? Be lucky he has enough time to spare for this one because he is extremely busy this festival season. Lastly, before I drown you to death in artists I would just like to make mention that the chainsmokers will also be attending the fest. If you have listened to the radio at all this year you will know at least one or two of the chainsmokers new songs, and guess what, they will be played at pemberton. Not to mention that this strong duo has been tearing up the festival scene lately starting with their incredible set at ultra followed by and equally good one that was performed at Coachella this past weekend. They have been popping up everywhere getting added to every lineup so this is a must see when you visit pemberton. I hope that after reading this article you will have a little more appreciation for the festival and a lot more for the music that will be held there this year. It is going to be a crazy event this year and I hope to see you there!
